In a static competitive world of Training and Development is an important function of human resource management concerned with organizational activity towards the betterment, success, and the enhanced performance of individuals and groups in organizational settings. Training and development are described as an educational process. It helps to sharpen the skills, concepts, changing of attitude and gaining more knowledge to increase the level of the performance of employees. Nowadays many use different name several names for addressing the requirement such as, Human Resource Development, Human Capital Development and Learning and Development.
Even though the concept presents a prime opportunity to expand the knowledge of all employees, many employers find development opportunities to be expensive. Employees also miss out on work time while attending training sessions, which may delay the completion of day-to-day duties. Despite the potential drawbacks, training and development provide both the company and employees with many benefits that make the cost and time a worthwhile investment.


Almost many employees may have some weaknesses in their workplace skills where everyone is not perfect. A training program allows the employee to strengthen the skills that need to improve. A development program brings all employees to a higher level which helps reduce any weak links within the company. If the employee doesn’t match in certain skills level strengthening it should understand accordingly and match the training gap between the required and present training requirement.

Training helps an employee to perform his/her job effectively. They become more aware of their basic tasks. The training may also build the employee's confidence because they are getting a thorough understanding of the industry and the responsibilities of their job task. This confidence may help to perform even better and think of new ideas that help both the company and employee can excel.

Continuous training be a cutting edge on industry developments. Employees who are competent help a company holds a position as a leader and a strong competitor within the industry. So, essentially an onboard training program ensures that employees have a consistent experience and background knowledge which are relevant for the company's basic policies and procedures. Every employee should be aware of the expectations and procedures of the company. This includes safety, discrimination and general administrative tasks. Putting all employees through regular training in these areas ensures that all staff members at least have exposure to the information.

The investment in training shows the employees they are valued to the organization. The training creates a supportive workplace with a motivated workforce. Employees who feel challenged, appreciated through the training opportunities may feel more satisfied toward their job role.

Increased productivity and adherence to the quality standard, reduced supervision and direction, increasing organizational stability and flexibility, increase in productivity & better industrial relations, role & career flexibility & reduced learning time can match future manpower needs, reduced workplace accidents and error, reduction of turnover and absenteeism are some of the advantages of a proper training program.

Training & Development helps an organization to improve human relations by addressing the current weaknesses, reduce monitoring needs, improve organization efficiency, improve team morale, confidence flexibility. Not only that reducing turnover helps to improving performance where employee’s quality performance leads to improved customer satisfaction and service which can ensure the fostering growth for both the employer and employee while enhancing company reputation and profile.
